Travel and Maps
International flights arrive at São Paulo International Airport (GRU), located in the city of Guarulhos. The organization will not be able to provide transportation from the airport to the city of Guarujá, which should be arranged by the participants. Domestic flights will arrive either in Guarulhos or Congonhas (CGH), which is located on the south part of the city of São Paulo.
The main options to reach Guarujá are by car (taxis or rental) or by coach. Some information on these options will be provided below.
1. By coach:
We recommend anyone going from the airport (Guarulhos or Congonhas) to Hotel Gávea to take a coach to either Guarujá or Santos (about 13 km from Guarujá). The coach company providing the service is called Translitoral (site in Portuguese) and will take you there in comfortable coaches for around R$40.00 (~US$22). There are 8 daily services to Santos and 2 to Guarujá as follows:

Tickets can be bought online (max. 30 days in advance) or you can pay directly to the bus driver when boarding. For other options, please see Translitoral website. The trip should take around 2-3 hours.
Once you get off the coach, we recommend you take a taxi to Hotel Gávea (~R$ 40 from Santos and ~R$25 from Guarujá).
2. Taxi:
Taxis are available outside the terminals; visitors are advised to take the prepaid taxis, they are usually a little more expensive but give peace of mind. At Guarulhos, fares are prepaid at a kiosk just outside the arrival area. Please bear in mind that a taxi from the airport to Guarujá will be very expensive!
You can also book an executive taxi transfer online. This service will probably be more expensive compared to other options. The website is http://www.saopauloairporttransfers.com/
3. Rental Cars:
Cars can be rented at the airport, with several options to choose from, but you should be prepared for busy traffic, especially in rush hours within the city of São Paulo. Do not forget a gps or a detailed map of how to go to the hotel.
