Intel(R) Math Kernel Library (Intel(R) MKL) Documentation

The following table lists the documentation included with the Intel® Math Kernel Library (Intel® MKL) for Linux* OS. In this table, the placeholder term <Intel Compiler Pro directory> represents the path to the product on installation. For example, /opt/intel/Compiler/11.1/058.

Document Description
Intel(R) MKL Reference Manual Contains detailed descriptions of the functions and interfaces for all library domains:
  • BLAS
  • BLACS
  • LAPACK
  • ScaLAPACK
  • PBLAS
  • Sparse Solver
  • Vector Math Library (VML)
  • Vector Statistical Library (VSL)
  • Conventional DFTs and Cluster DFTs
  • Partial Differential Equations support
  • Optimization Solvers.

For implementation-specific information about the library, see Intel MKL Release Notes and Intel MKL User's Guide.

The manual is available in PDF format and is installed at <Intel Compiler Pro directory>/Documentation/en_US/mkl/mklman.pdf. A PDF version of the manual in Japanese for Intel(R) MKL 9.0 is available at <Intel Compiler Pro directory>/Documentation/ja_JP/mkl/mklman90_j.pdf.

Eclipse Plugin with Intel MKL Reference Manual A plugin for Eclipse Help with a WebHelp version of the Intel MKL Reference Manual.
To use the plugin, place it into the plugins folder of your Eclipse directory, start Eclipse, choose  Help -> Help Contents in the menu bar, click the Intel(R) Math Kernel Library Help bookmark in the left-hand panel and then the Intel(R) Math Kernel Library Reference Manual bookmark below, if necessary.
Starting from Intel(R) MKL 10.0, the plugin provides an option to extend search over the www.intel.com site. Run Search from the standard Eclipse Help panel and check Intel.com search results to see it work.

Starting from Intel(R) MKL 10.1, the plugin provides F1 Help display option for CDT 4.0.3 (or later) users. When you place the cursor to a function name in the editor window and press F1, links to the respective help topics appear in the See Also section of the Help panel.

The plugin is installed at <Intel Compiler Pro directory>/mkl/tools/plugins/com.intel.mkl.help.

Intel(R) MKL User's Guide Provides Intel MKL usage information in greater detail: getting started information, application compiling and linking depending on a particular platform and function domain; building custom DLLs; configuring the development environment; coding mixed-language calls; threading; memory management; ways to obtain best performance, etc.

The document is available in PDF format and is installed at <Intel Compiler Pro directory>/Documentation/en_US/mkl/userguide.pdf.

Man pages of Intel MKL A collection of man pages for Intel MKL functions.
Note for Windows* OS users: To get a guaranteed correct display, view the Intel MKL man pages using the Linux console rather than a Windows* shell client.

The man pages are installed in <Intel Compiler Pro directory>/man/en_US/man3.

PDF documents require a PDF reader, such as the Adobe Acrobat Reader* software version 6 or later.
