First Announcement

The ADVANCED SCHOOL ON ASTROPHYSICS is organized by the Astronomy Department/IAG at the University of São Paulo (USP). The 15th edition of the Advanced School will focus on the several levels of organization and complexity present in the Galaxy. The program of the school consists of four courses, covering the subjects of structure of the Galaxy, exoplanets and astrobiology.

The courses will be given by:

- Lynn Rothschild (astrobiology)
- Mario Juric (structure of the Galaxy)
- Pierre Barge (exoplanets)
- Timothy Beers (structure of the Galaxy)

The meeting will be held at the Hotel Orotour in Campos do Jordão, a pleasant mountain town, not far from São Paulo. (map here)

Nearest international airports are:
- São Paulo "Guarulhos Intl." (GRU) - 2 hours drive to the conference hotel.
- Campinas "Viracopos" (CPQ) - 3 hours drive to the conference hotel.

Acceptance will be notified by e-mail before June, 11th, 2010.

Conference fee:
US$250,00
US$200,00 (PhD students)
The conference fee should be paid in cash (US$ or BR$) upon arrival to Campos do Jordão. We will not be able to accept credit cards.

We request that each accepted participant arrange for visa, travel, hotel reservations and ground transportation from/to the airport.
