I summarize the phenomenon of Double Periodic Variables (DPVs) and present recent results on the prototype V393 Scorpii. DPVs are interacting binaries showing an enigmatic long photometric cycle lasting about 33 times the orbital period. High resolution spectroscopy and photometric monitoring of the orbital and long cycles reveal the complex circumstellar environments of these systems and allow placing them in an evolutionary context.
