Título/Title: The Interacting Binaries "Double Periodic Variables (DPVs)"

Resumo/Abstract:

I will review the phenomenon of Double Periodic Variables, a  
relatively new type of interacting binaries discovered in the  
Magellanic Clouds and now with a dozen of Galactic members.
These objects  show two linked photometric periodicities, infrared  
excess and some of them also show evidence for circumprimary discs and  
mass loss/exchange.
I will argue that the long-term periodicity probably reflects the  
periodic formation of a circumbinary disc, probably triggered for some  
unstability acting in the circumprimary disc.
I will also discuss the possible evolution stage of  DPVs.
