Título/Title: Imaging Fourier Transform Spectroscopy: simultaneous high angular and spectral resolution observations over a large field of view in a large spectral range

Resumo/Abstract:

A visible-infrared (0.4–2.5 micron) Imaging Fourier Transform Spectrometer (IFTS) is described. The main characteristics of this instrument is that it offers the unique possibility of simultaneous diffraction-limited full field spectroscopy which makes it an ideal instrument to carry out many of astrophysical scientific objectives, namely all those which require imaging at high spectral resolution over a large field of view.

I will give a description of this instrument, recall the several important advantages over other spectral imaging modalities, such as, a wide free spectral range, higher spectral resolution, etc. and present some results obtained with instruments based on the same concept.
