Título/Title: Kinematics and dynamics of interacting galaxy pairs

Resumo/Abstract:

Interactions between galaxies play an important role in the formation and evolution of these systems. Observational techniques such as Fabry-Perot scanning interferometry are ideal for the study of these encounters since the interacting process implies distortions over the whole galaxy.

In this talk, Fabry-Perot observations of four different interacting galaxy pairs will be presented. Kinematical effects of the interaction can be seen in the velocity field of each pair member, as well as in the derived rotation curve. Comparing the kinematical behaviour of each galaxy with photometric images from the literature, we analyze the impact the interacting process has had on the formation of structures such as bars, bridges and tails and the motions of the gas due to these features. Finally this information is used in an attempt to place each interacting pair in an evolutionary sequence and in a 3D scenario.
