Título/Title: Departure from Gaussianity of the Cosmic Pairwise Velocity Distribution: Mesoscopic Energy Constraints

Resumo/Abstract:

In this work we present an original analysis of the cosmic flow from the point of view of how clusterings in different dynamical regimes in an expanding universe evolve according to a “coarse-grained” partitioning of their ranked energy distribution.

By an analysis of a LCDM cosmological simulation from the Virgo Project, we find that the evolution of particles composing present-day large scale structures seems to be restricted by “mesoscopic constraints” of pure gravitational origin, a point already noted by Kandrup et al. (1993) for galactic scales. Our results indicate that cosmic flows may evolve in an orderly sense, if tracked from their coarse-grained energy cells, even when nonlinearities are already developed.
