In the last two years, a new 3D gasdynamic, adaptive grid code (yguazu-a) has
been developed, primarily to treat problems of astrophysical jets. In order
to validate this code, we have carried out comparisons between the obtained
results and laboratory experiments of laser-generated explosions and jets.
These comparisons are surprisingly encouraging, giving us confidence that
the code indeed gives results that do not deviate drastically from the
real solutions of the gasdynamic equations.
We then use this code to compute a model for the "triple source" radio
jet in Serpens. This jet is ejected by a young star, and shows high
proper motions and intensity changes that make it ideal for carrying out
comparisons with a time-dependent jet simulation. We conclude that
the observations qualitatively agree with the predictions of radio
continuum emission from a model of a jet ejected with a time-dependent
velocity, and with a precession of the outflow axis.
