Some time ago, I had two hummingbird feeders just outside my window, at the old IAG site.
Algum tempo atrás, eu tinha dois bebedouros junto da minha janela, no prédio antigo do IAG.
On the large red feeder, you can see a sebinho (bananaquit, Coereba flaveola), a bird that also feeds on nectar. If you look carefully on the left feeder, you'll see a bee. Bees of that kind were very specific: whenever other birds, like the bananaquit, were around, no problem. However, whenever a hummer approached they would immediately chase them away!...
No bebedouro vermelho grande, você pode ver um sebinho, pássaro que também se alimenta de néctar. Se você olhar com cuidado no bebedouro da esquerda, você verá uma pequena abelha. Estas abelhas eram bem específicas: se outros pássaros, como o sebinho, estivessem por perto, tudo bem. Entretanto, se algum beija-flor chegasse para beber, elas o espantariam imediatamente!...

(Above) A sebinho (bananaquit, Coereba flaveola) gets a sip from the feeder. They would often try and get to the nectar like the hummers do. They soon learn the best way to do it though.

At our home in Vinhedo, we caught this tesoura (swallow-tailed hummingbird, Eupetomena macroura) taking the opportunity of a light shower to bathe itself and have some fun. This species is very territorial and this individual, nicknamed 'Encrenca' ('Trouble') is the one who 'watches over' the malvaviscus we have by the fence.
Em nossa casa em Vinhedo, pudemos observar este tesoura usando uma chuvinha leve para tomar uma ducha e se divertir. Esta espécie é bastante territorial e este indivíduo, o 'Encrenca', é o que 'toma conta' do malvavisco que temos na cerca.
A rolinha-de-asa-de-canela (plain-brested ground-dove, Columbina minuta) couple has been often nesting in our hourse.
