Determinations of the oxygen radial abundance gradient from galactic planetary nebulae and HII regions are reviewed. The application of the simple model for the chemical evolution of the Galaxy is shown to account for the observed gradients for type II planetary nebulae, which are disk objects with intermediate mass progenitors.
