Rationale

This workshop aims to gather astronomers and students to discuss the first light instrumentation for the GMT - Giant Magellan Telescope. This meeting - the first of a series - will focus the spectrographs G-CLEF and GMACS as well as some science topics to be addressed with them. For each instrument the discussion will start with a review of a science topic to be delivered by an expert. These review will be complemented with shorter technical and science contributing presentations.
