Intel(R) C++ Compiler User and Reference Guides This is the main reference and user's document for the Intel(R) C++ Compiler. The compiler documentation is provided as online help files in HTML format. The Intel C++ Compiler documentation contains the following information:
  • Welcome to the Intel(R) C++ Compiler: describes major components, new features, related publications, and the product website.
  • Building Applications: describes building applications with the icc command, using the command-line environment, using the Eclipse integrated development environment, customizing the compilation environment and process, using debuggers, and using libraries.
  • Compiler Options: provides reference information about all compiler options, such as IDE categories, option name and syntax, default values, and a detailed description.
  • Optimizing Applications: describes how to optimize applications, including various optimizations, profiling applications and related profiling tools, coding guidelines, parallel execution, and using optimization-related directives and intrinsic procedures.
  • Floating-point Operations: describes floating-point support in the compiler.
  • Compiler Reference: provides detailed reference information about the Intel Math Library and the Intel C++ Class Libraries.
  • Intrinsics Reference: provides detailed reference information about the Intel C++ Intrinsics.

Once Eclipse* has been properly configured to use the compiler, the online help is also available in Eclipse. Refer to the Release Notes for information on installing and configuring Eclipse.

Additional documentation The Intel(R) C++ Compiler includes man page information. After setting the environment variables, which can be done by sourcing the supplied script, you can view the man page or view a complete list of compiler options:

man icc

The compiler documentation also includes man pages detailing the code coverage tool (man codecov_c) and test prioritization tool (man tselect_c).

Read a summary of compiler options from the command line by invoking the compiler with the -help option:

icc -help
